Cameroon: Boko Haram kidnapping

Show: false / Country: Cameroon /
29 April 2022: 14 people were kidnapped by members of Boko Haram in Cameroon's Far North region. The hostages were abducted as they drove through Bargaram locality, a Boko Haram stronghold in the region (Xinhua, 30 April 2022).‚  World Watch Research analyst Yonas Dembele comments: "The security situation in Cameroon seems to be worsening. Fighting between government and separatist forces bolstered by Islamic militants has escalated in recent weeks and has led to the displacement and death of many civilians. The deteriorating security situation means that groups like Boko Haram can extend their attacks and influence. This puts Christians at particular risk since they are often a main target for Islamic militants."
